Resumo:The city of Dili is the capital of East Timor, little has been studied about the meteorological aspects of this region. Thus, the present work aimed to characterize the climatic behavior of the city of Dili. For this, we used precipitation, maximum temperature and minimum temperature data, measured during the period from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2020 at Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili. For the analyses we produced box-plot diagrams and to verify the linear trend we used the Mann - Kendall nonparametric test, with statistical significance of 5%. The parameters used showed that a significant downward trend in the historical precipitation series and the minimum temperature, and there was no trend in the historical series of maximum temperature, this was verified by the non - parametric Mann – Kendall of (P-Value) test, the highest temperature values always occur in the rainy season and the lowest occurs in the dry season. We conclude that the region presents well pronounced seasonality and interannual variability is mainly influenced by ENSO and IOD
