description |
It is already a historical fact in our country that, for millions of children who study in public schools, the literacy process does not develop satisfactorily in the early years of Elementary School, a situation that is known to have several determinants, as stated by Soares (2003), among them the social and economic inequalities of our society. This situation has worsened considerably since the beginning of 2020 with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent suspension of face-to-face activities in public spaces, especially schools. As a result, the learning process of millions of students was interrupted and networks and schools were organized according to their guidelines and conditions, with different forms of non-face-to-face activities, both quantitatively and qualitatively, which in turn caused changes in conditions of student learning. Considering that pedagogical work, with its characteristics of intentionality and systematicity, is a fundamental condition for learning, since, according to Vygotsky (1998) these are mediated processes, this situation generated many concerns. In view of this, the objective of this monographic work was to analyze the conditions and modes of development of school activities in the context of the pandemic in classes of the 1st year of Elementary School in public schools in the municipality of Natal-RN, with regard to literacy. Methodologically, the study was guided by the principles of the qualitative approach and was developed as an exploratory research that involved, in addition to a documentary and bibliographic survey, a field research through semi-structured interviews with three teachers working in first-year classes in schools in the municipal network of Natal RN. As a theoretical contribution, we assume theorizations of authors such as Soares (2003; 2004; 2009); Blacksmith and Teberosky (1981); fountain; Cruz (1997); Colello (2021); Lopes; Vieira (2012); Vygotsky (1998). The results showed that the extraordinary context of the pandemic with its impediments imposed a series of changes in the conditions for carrying out the teaching and learning processes in children's literacy, mainly involving difficulties in the working conditions of teachers and restrictions in the learning conditions of students. From the analysis, it is understood that the exclusion of the school space, even if temporarily, affected the possibilities of teaching and learning in the literacy process, which points to the urgency of measures, on the part of public networks, in the sense of creating work situations consistent with the need to resume and intensify teaching and learning processes. |
