Resumo:Jean-Paul Sartre is considered one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th century. His conception of freedom and engagement had a great influence on contemporary thought. Since, for Sartre, literature has a fundamental role in the construction of society and that the relationship between writer and reader is fundamental for the philosopher, the aim of this work is to understand how the concept of freedom contributes to the author-reader dialectic. Thus, this research investigates the concepts of freedom and literature, and then analyzes the relationship between the author and the reader, identifying the role of freedom in the construction of a literary work.
