Resumo:Introduction: COVID-19 is an infectious disease that has gained a large proportion causing a pandemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) adopted preventive measures in order to contain its transmissibility, such as social distancing, which mitigated the practice of exercises. The frequent practice of physical activity seems to act as an adjunct to stimulate immune function, reducing the incidence of several diseases, including those transmitted by viruses and bacteria. Objectives: The present study aims to evaluate the association between the level of physical activity and the risk of contamination by COVID-19. Results: In view of the results presented, it was observed that 8.9% of the population studied was diagnosed with COVID-19. Among those interviewed, 7% of physically active individuals and 10.7% of the sedentary population were contaminated by the virus, demonstrating a 1.5 times higher prevalence of contamination in sedentary individuals. Conclusion: We can conclude, through the results of the present study, that physically active individuals were less susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 contagion.
