Resumo: | Introduction: The training of specialist doctors in Primary Health Care (PHC) throughmedical residency is an important strategy to strengthen the unified health system. Theexpansion of Residency Programs in Family and Community Medicine (RMFC), includinginthe state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), represented an important advance in training, butregional inequalities persist. There are few studies that assess the sociodemographicprofile, professional and academic trajectory of graduates and aspects related to programmanagement. Objectives: The objectives of the study are to characterize the profile and professionaltrajectory of graduates of the RMFC Programs in RN and analyze aspects relatedtomanagement. Methods: Mixed approach study. Quantitative data were analyzedusingdescriptive statistics and qualitative data submitted to lexicographic textual analysisandcontent analysis. Results: Of the 96 graduates, 37 (39%) answered the questionnaire. Most arewomen (54.1%), work in the family health strategy (67.6%), in the private service(59.5%)and in teaching (54.1%). Six classes were analyzed: lack of incentives for FamilyMedicine;role of public policies; reduced number of graduates when compared to the numberofvacancies offered; difficulties in the relationship with managers; difficulties in the relationshipwith educational institutions and prospects for the job market. Conclusion: The datamakeitpossible to understand the trajectory of both the graduates and the RMFC Programs inthetenyears analyzed. It is possible to identify the need for new strategies and permanent dialoguebetween actors in different instances and levels of management, in order to enablenewpossibilities in the policy of qualified human resources for PHC and for the strengtheningofthe Unified Health System. |
