Finding sparse approximations can be a difficult challenge because there is no universal method that is guaranteed to work in many situations. The Matching Pursuit algorithm is one of the main algorithms for reconstructing or approximating sparse signals. It acts as a driving force for the development of various other methods for sparse signal reconstruction, and it also plays a vital role in the development of media reconstruction, as well as shape recognition, 3D objects, among others such as health monitoring. This work studies the problem of recovering a sparse signal, using the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit. Nos últimos anos, tem aumentado o interesse em aproximações esparsas devido ao seu grande número de aplicações. Encontrar aproximações esparsas pode ser um desafio difí- cil por não existe um método universal garantido que funcione em diversas situações. O algoritmo Matching Pursuit é um dos principais algoritmos para reconstrução ou apro- ximação de sinais esparsos. Ele atua como uma força motriz para o desenvolvimento de vários outros métodos para reconstrução de sinais esparsos, e também desempenha um papel vital no desenvolvimento para reconstrução de mídias, além de reconhecimento de formas, objetos 3D, entre outros como o monitoramento de saúde.
