Resumo:This study aimed to identify the main indications for the use of invasive mechanical ventilation in patients affected by COVID-19, as well as guidelines for the health team on IMV support for patients affected by COVID-19. This is an integrative literature review study whose methodological approach was divided into six stages, the 1st stage hypothesis or the guiding question, 2nd stage search in the literature, 3rd stage data collection, 4th stage critical analysis of the studies, 5th stage discussion of results, 6th stage synthesis of knowledge. The search was performed in the following databases: Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct and Cinahl. The final sample resulted in 24 selected studies. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome was the main indication for the use of Invasive Mechanical Ventilation in patients affected by COVID-19. Regarding the recommendations on the parameters used in mechanical ventilation for patients diagnosed with COVID-19, the prevalence of PEEP was observed between 5-16.7 cm H2O, tidal volume of 6-8 mL/kg predicted weight, respiratory frequency : 12- 35 rpm, Pplat: <30 cm H2O, FiO2: 21-93% and driving pressure: <14-15 cm H2O.
