Resumo:The present study evaluated the knowledge and time of use by specialists in dental prosthesis in the State of Rio Grande do Norte regarding digital flow (CAD/CAM) in dental prosthesis. This was an observational, quantitative, cross-sectional study. Participants answered a virtual questionnaire on knowledge and use of intraoral scanners, accuracy and marginal adaptation of prosthetic parts, obtaining working models, indications, advantages and disadvantages of the CAD CAM technique. The data obtained were grouped in tables in Microsoft Excel® (2018) by descriptive form and percentage. Among the participants, 100% reported knowing what CAD/CAM means and 60% responded that they use the technique in their clinical practice, only 1.5% of them did not know how the technique worked. When asked if they knew the advantages of the technique, 95.4% were able to answer and cite at least two. Regarding the disadvantages, only 7.7% of the participants could not mention any of them. It was observed that the majority (88.8%) of the participants of this research presented a high level of knowledge and/or were able to answer as expected what was asked of them. It can be concluded that technology is increasingly inserted in dental practice, especially by prosthodontists, where they have a high level of knowledge about the digital flow technique and are able to measure advantages and disadvantages of the technique. of digital flow, in addition to demonstrating that they know how to evaluate the parameters associated with the technique, such as precision, working time, patient comfort, lack of adaptation and quality of the prosthesis.
