Among them, Richardsitas Betsch, Temeritas Richards, Galeriella Curcic & Lucic and Keratosminthurus Zeppelini are remarkably similar to each other especially due to their long antennae (antenna IV with 18 or more subsegments), metatrochanteral spine present and a similar ventro-dental chaetotaxy. But between these genera, Temeritas and Richardsitas possibly are the most similar and close related to each other. Due to this similarity, we performed a bibliographic review of Richardsitas and Temeritas in order to better circumscribe their genera and species diagnoses. We also present a description of a new species of Richardsitas (R. subferoleum sp nov. from Australia), a table and a comparative key for the Sminthurinae genera, tables and comparative keys for the species of Temeritas and Richardsitas as well as an updated diagnoses for both genera. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES A subfamília Sminthurinae apresenta 18 gêneros, entre gêneros extintos e viventes. Dentre eles Richardsitas Betsch, Temeritas Richards, Galeriella Curcic & Lucic e Keratosminthurus Zeppelini são extremamente semelhantes entre si devido a apresentarem longas antenas (antenômero IV com 18 ou mais subsegmentos), espinho metatrocanteral presente e uma quetotaxia ventro-dental semelhante. Mas dentre esses gêneros, Temeritas e Richardsitas possivelmente são os que apresentam maior semelhança entre si. Devido a essa similaridade fizemos uma revisão bibliográfica de Richardsitas e Temeritas a fim de melhor circunscrever as suas diagnoses genéricas e das suas espécies.
