Resumo:Introduction (background): The hospitalization of cancer patients demands from the professional nurse a series of care of the most varied levels of complexity and nature. Therefore, it is extremely important to search the literature for studies on this subject, which show all the care provided to these patients by this professional and not only the care involved in technical and procedural procedures. Objective: To identify the activities performed by nurses during their workday in the care of patients in inpatient environments specialized in oncology, as well as the tools used for this survey. Project (Design): This is a scoping review based on the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Reviewer’s Manual, according to the steps proposed in the PRISMA-ScR according to the theoretical framework of Arksey and O’Malley. Data sources: To carry out this review, the following databases were used to select articles, theses and dissertations: PubMed, SCOPUS, LILACS, IBECS and Web of Science. Catalog of CAPES Theses and Dissertations, Dart-Europe E-Theses Portal, Electronic Theses Online Service (EThOS) and Latin American Theses and Dissertations. Review method: The selection of articles took place in two stages, the first from reading the titles and abstracts, observing the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, and in the second stage, the studies were analyzed through reading the material in full. There were no restrictions on language and time. Results: The final sample consisted of 9 studies, published between 2016 and 2020, mainly in Brazil, with predominant level of evidence I. Conclusion (Conclusions): Most of the studies found showed only direct care performed by the professional nurse, however, those that showed the other types of care promoted their importance and indispensability in the treatment of these patients, in addition, it was possible to conclude that they did not there is an adequate tool to survey these activities in view of the tools which the studies used.
