| Resumo: | With the development of information and communication technologies, libraries gain another meaning and are no longer just collections of books, encompassing different activities. However, it is observed that in the local scenario, the city of Natal/RN has a deficit in relation to this typology, in view of the lack of equipment that supports different media, which meets the various age groups, is accessible and flexible. In this way, the objective is to propose a construction of a Library and Public Media Library for the city of Natal/RN, considering the principles of the IFLA/UNESCO Manifesto, and that meets the requirements of acoustic treatment for the multiple functions that these places exert. For this, the bibliographic research is used as a methodology about the current role played by these buildings in the face of technological advances, the activities and services performed by them, as well as the challenges involving acoustics. In addition, the work made use of three indirect and one direct reference studies, with buildings that resemble the use of the proposed building in the work. Regarding the design process, it uses the concept, design, pre-dimensioning, sectoring, flows and implementation, with the help of information from Google Eart, technical data, site visits, sketches and electronic volumetric models. In view of this, a project of a public library for the municipality was elaborated, considering the specifications of this typology, the surrounding conditions, the pertinent legislation and the characteristics of bioclimatic and acoustic comfort, in order to create a place that serves as a space for leisure, coexistence, information and education center, in addition to favoring the perception of new concepts for public libraries. |
