Resumo:Introduction: Permanent education in health is the updating of knowledge and individual and collective improvement, bringing improvements in patient care and in the entire team dynamics. The Ministry of Health, through the National Policy on Permanent Education in Health, encouraging the formation of educational practices that favor critical treatment, such as the adoption of population health methodologies, and encouraging the adoption of general health methodologies, and human education in of health and the strengthening of work in multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams. Objective: To describe the experience of nursing professionals in relation to continuing education in health services, in the context of the SUS. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review study. The data search took place in the Scielo, Lilacs and BVS databases, using the following descriptors: Continuing Education, Permanent Education and Nursing. Articles published between 2016 and 2021 and available in Portuguese, English and Spanish were included. Results: The final sample of this review consisted of 12 articles, most of which were published in 2021. Regarding the practice scenario, most of the educational actions were carried out in an outpatient sector, and the main methodologies used were: Dialogical relationship between educator and student and active methodology. Through the review, it was possible to identify weaknesses related to the non-adherence of professionals through continuing health education practices. Conclusion: Therefore, it is emphasized that the need to strengthen this subject under study so that other works are developed with the aim of strengthening educational practices and strategies that enable the participation and adherence of all professionals. In view of this, educational actions provide professional improvement that, through the acquired knowledge, will thus promote quality care for patients and safety during care practice.
