Resumo:Differences are inherent to human nature in several aspects: physical, mental, behavioral, neurological or even emotional. There are not two equal human beings. The autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or autism, is one characteristic, among many others, that differentiates people from one another. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can cause social, behavioral, and communication impairments. The main objective of therapeutic interventions in ASD is to improve and develop independence in autistic individuals. Depending on the severity of the condition, different levels of treatment and interventions are recommended. They are highly individual, and often require a joint collaboration between professionals from a wide range of specialties and competences, in order to potentialize the development of children with ASD. In this context, the main goal of this work is to develop a preliminary architectural study of a center specialized in supporting the development of children with autism spectrum disorder in the city of Natal/RN. In order to reach all the goals that involve the elaboration of a project, theoretical and practical methodological approaches were carried out, including literature review, interviews with professionals from different specialties, design reference studies, and conceptual design. As a result, this work proposes the project of a welcoming support center, functional, accessible and inspiring for children with ASD and their families. It was created a building that seeks the simplicity of the constructive system and the sectorization of internal spaces, as well as a practical zoning and with well-defined sectors. The project was thought with the aim of bringing familiarity to users, creating a logical sequence in the arrangement of environments. Therefore, light colors, rich landscaping, simple shapes and harmony were essential in a space that seeks to provide a unique experience for all, promoting comfort, well-being, safety and tranquility.
