Resumo:Two-dimensional reinforced concrete structures, especially shells, have diverse applications both in civil construction and in other industries. Its analysis and design constitute a challenge for the designer, especially because there are no guidelines in Brazilian standards to guide the design of this type of structure. The Three-layer Model is currently a simple and reliable solution for shell design, being adopted by structural codes such as CEB (1990). Based on this model and on the iterative algorithm proposed by Colombo, Della Bella and Bittencourt (2014), a flowchart was developed for the design of two-dimensional structures in reinforced concrete subjected to membrane forces and bending moments, in addition to the transverse shear forces. The proposed methodology was validated by numerical examples found in the literature, in which the greatest difference between the reference results and those obtained through the flowchart was of the order of 4%. Finally, finite element analysis, interpretation of results and design based on the proposed flowchart were developed in three shell structures, a slab, a cylindrical reservoir and a spherical dome, showing the application of the proposed methodology in several practical uses.
