description The automation of the textile industry coincided with the Industrial Revolution, when machines, hitherto driven by human or animal power, began to be driven by steam engines and, later, electric motors. It is also interesting to note that the textile industry pioneered the control of machines by binary devices, through the punched cards used in Jacquard looms. This study has the general objective of identifying the importance of the use of PPE applied to workers in the textile industry, more precisely, at the Coteminas factory, located in Macaíba/RN. Having as specific objectives - Conduct a survey through a literature review on the use of PPE in the Textile Industry; Gather the regulatory standards of work in the Textile Industry sector, related to health and safety; To verify the perception of workers in the textile industry, object of study, regarding the risks of accidents and the importance of using PPE, based on the application of questionnaires; Check the accidents and incidents that occurred in the textile industry object of study, in the last 5 years; To analyze the importance of the use of PPE by workers in the textile industry. The work encompasses bibliographic, quantitative, qualitative, explanatory and field research. A questionnaire with 7 questions (objective and subjective) was applied to employees of the textile industry, COTEMINAS, and information related to accidents that occurred or were avoided due to the use of PPE were collected so that it was possible to identify if these accessories are being correctly used and thus if need, suggestion of improvements for the company. Thus, a field research is also applied in the present work, since it had an on-site visit to seek the necessary information for the study in question. In the company Coteminas, through the study carried out, it was noticed that due to the training provided by the company since when the employee is hired and during the work routine these employees are always informed about how to preserve their health and safety at work and the correct way. of the use of PPE according to each function and sector. The knowledge on the part of all employees about the importance of using PPE is notorious, they have demonstrated that they know and understand each item they use in their daily lives, and how essential it is to obey and follow safety rules and regulations.

A automação da indústria têxtil coincidiu com a Revolução Industrial, quando as máquinas, até então acionadas por força humana ou animal, passaram a ser acionadas por máquinas a vapor e, mais tarde, motores elétricos. É interessante observar também que a indústria têxtil foi pioneira no controle de máquinas por dispositivos binários, através dos cartões perfurados usados nos teares Jacquard. Este estudo tem como objetivo geral identificar a importância do uso de EPI‘s aplicados aos trabalhadores da indústria têxtil, mais precisamente, na fábrica Coteminas, localizada em Macaíba/RN. Tendo como os objetivos específicos - Realizar um levantamento por meio de revisão bibliográfica sobre o uso de EPI‘s na Indústria Têxtil; Reunir as normas regulamentadoras do trabalho no setor da Indústria Têxtil, relacionadas à saúde e segurança; Verificar a percepção dos trabalhadores da indústria têxtil objeto de estudo quanto aos riscos de acidentes e importância do uso de EPIs, a partir da aplicação de questionários; Verificar os acidentes e incidentes ocorridos na indústria têxtil objeto de estudo, nos últimos 5 anos; Analisar a importância do uso dos EPIs pelos trabalhadores da indústria têxtil. O trabalho abarca a pesquisa bibliográfica, quantitativa, qualitativa, explicativa e de campo. Aplicado questionário com 7 questões (objetivas e subjetivas) aos funcionários da indústria têxtil, COTEMINAS, e foram coletadas informações relacionadas a acidentes que ocorreram ou foram evitados devido ao uso do EPI para que fosse possível identificar se estes acessórios estão sendo corretamente utilizados e assim se preciso, sugestão de melhorias para a empresa. Assim, uma pesquisa de campo também se aplica no presente trabalho, já que teve visita in loco para buscar as informações necessárias para o estudo em pauta. Na empresa Coteminas mediante o estudo realizado percebeu-se que em virtude dos treinamentos proporcionados pela empresa desde quando o funcionário é admitido e durante a rotina de trabalho estes funcionários a todo momento são esclarecidos sobre como preservar sua saúde e segurança no trabalho e a maneira correta do uso dos EPIs de acordo com cada função e setor.
