| Resumo: | The process of politicization of sexual and gender diversity promoted by LGBT movements has historically contributed to the creation of Reference Centers specific to the LGBT people, such as the Municipal LGBT Center in Natal/RN. This study, in turn, seeks to analyze the process of conformation of this institution, in its relation with the context of the advance of neoconservatism and ultraneoliberalism of the national government, by Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and municipal administration, by Álvaro Dias (PMDB). With this aim in mind, a bibliographical and documentary research was carried out, through a literature review on the current political conjuncture, and on the theorizations about sexual and gender diversity, in order to investigate its implications for the Center and the challenges that it is facing today. It was also possible to understand that the LGBT Center is not exempt from the determinations and contradictions inherent to the heteropatriarchal structure of capitalism, to the extent that it represents an important local alternative to the ongoing regression of LGBT rights. |
