Resumo:Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate women's knowledge about the role of physical therapy in the area of women's health. This is an analytical study, in which 792 Brazilian women, literate, over 18 years of age, with internet access to complete the electronic questionnaire, participated in the study. After completing the questionnaire, which was about whether physical therapy has a specific area for women's care and whether or not it was in the health area, the participants received an explanatory booklet on the subject. Data were analyzed using SPSS software, version 20.0, using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, absolute and relative frequencies) and inferential (Chi-square association test). A p<0.05 was adopted. As a result, it was found that: 92.9% of the respondents lived in the northeast region of Brazil, 57.2% declared themselves white, 33.3% had incomplete higher education, 36.7% had a family income of 1 to 2 salaries minimum and 56.1% were not health professionals. There was a statistically significant association between knowing the specialty of Physiotherapy in Women's Health and being in the health area (p<0.001). 65.7% (241) who were neither students nor health professionals, 20.2% (74) were students and 14.2% (52) were health professionals. It is concluded that there is a lack of knowledge of the women's health specialty in Physiotherapy by the female population in general.
