Resumo:The presente work is a bibliographical and philosophical approach on the body, according to the authors Mircea Eliade and Johan Huizinga, with the purpose of investigating the divergences and convergences in the conceptions of these two classic authors. This research was motivated by the hegemony of materialistics conceptions of body in the contemporary philosophy of physical education. After this study, we find that the body, according to these authors, has similar characteristics, such as, for example, the perception of time and space varies according to the experience they are subjected, nevertheless, these same aspects are divergent between, when they are experienced in the view of each, the homo religiosus and the homo ludens. However, both concepts of body must be explored in order to overcome the hegemony of the materialistic body.
