Resumo:The objective of the study is to analyze the relationships between the Causation and Effectuation approaches and the characteristics of entrepreneurs who are ex-participants of Empretec do SEBRAE/RN in their businesses. The method adopted is quantitative, through an empirical research, whose data were obtained in cross-section, with the application of a questionnaire based on a research instrument already validated nationally and internationally. In addition to the description of the sample profile, statistical techniques were used: Exploratory Factor Analysis (with bootstrap) and Robust Multiple Linear Regression, with the help of the G*Power 3 programs for sample treatment and SPSS 27 for the other procedures. With the statistical results, a satisfactory response and factor adjustment were obtained in the scale test in a quantitative way, and it was possible to infer that both approaches and their respective variables are strong, but especially that of Causation, which is also significantly impacted by gender, age, source of resources and the fact that the participants are currently entrepreneurs. Effectuation is timidly influenced by the same variables, but not in all its sub-dimensions. It was concluded that there is coexistence of both approaches in the decision-making of exEmpretecos, despite a predominance of the Causation mode.
