The research is based on the socio-cultural perspective of human development and learning proposed by Vygotsky (1996), where the design is able to contribute with new possibilities of teaching through the processes and practices that are proper to them, such as planning, constructing, drawing and use. Along the way, design tools based on the book Universal Methods of Design (2012) are applied, which allow immersion in the context of the object of study and the realization of participatory processes with the children and the school's pedagogical team. The research, therefore, results in the creation and production of a sensory panel model, used to stimulate children's psychomotor skills, including promoting interaction and sharing. Thus, given the studies carried out, there is a possibility of artifact replication in other schools or contexts. Este trabalho propõe o diálogo entre a Educação e o Design, a partir da aproximação das bases teóricas dessas áreas de conhecimento e da produção de um artefato de design para fins pedagógicos a ser utilizado por crianças, do berçário e da turma 1, do Núcleo de Educação da Infância – NEI/CAp-UFRN. A pesquisa baseia-se na perspectiva sócio-cultural de desenvolvimento humano e aprendizagem proposta por Vygotsky (1996), em que o design é capaz de contribuir com novas perspectivas de ensino por meio dos processos e das práticas que lhes são próprias, como planejar, construir, desenhar e utilizar. Ao longo do percurso, são aplicadas ferramentas de design baseadas no livro “Universal Methods of Design” (2012), que propiciam a imersão no contexto do objeto de estudo e a realização de processos participativos com as crianças e a equipe da pedagógica da escola. A pesquisa, portanto, resulta na criação e produção de um modelo de painel sensorial, utilizado para estimular as capacidades psicomotoras das crianças, promovendo, inclusive, a interação e o compartilhamento.
