description This work consists of the design of an children’s picture book applying a Participatory Design aproach in order to stimulate the child’s presence in a creative project in addition to engaging creative content creation and literary by children, influencing the practice of reading and learning. This project presents the theory addressing topics as a beginner reader, children’s literature, children’s picture book and participatory design, and still has the description of the methods and techniques applied in this work, divided into three stages: 1) data collection and analysis, with the purpose of understanding the context and the needs of young readers who were part of the creation of the product and its relationship with reading; 2) idea generation and prototyping, which consisted of the creation of the picture book with the participation of children, creation of the prototype, feedback and changes; 3) final evaluation, which consisted of the final evaluation of the book created with children from a different context and the creation of a semantic differential in order to synthesize children’s perception of the book. The methodological approach used allowed the participation of teachers of children’s education and children during the three stages of this work, the first two were held with the participation of teachers and students of the first year of the Núcleo de Educação da Infância da UFRN (NEI) and the third stage with students of the third year of Escola Estadual Professora Calpúrnia Caldas Amorim, from the city of Jardim do Seridó. The presence of teachers and mainly of children in this project, allowed to understand, from a perspective beyond the bibliographical research carried out, the rou- tine, context and needs of the participating children the creation of a book that received a positive reception from both the NEI and Calpúrnia School.

Este Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC) consiste no projeto de um livro ilustrado para crianças com a abordagem do Design Participativo, de modo a estimular a presença da criança no processo criativo do design além de engajar a criação de conteúdo criativo literário por crianças, influenciando na prática da leitura e da aprendizagem. Este TCC apresenta a fundamentação teórica, abordando temas como leitor iniciante, literatura infantil, livro ilustrado para crianças e design participativo, e ainda conta com a descrição dos métodos e técnicas aplicados neste trabalho, dividida em três etapas: 1) levantamento e análise de dados, com a finalidade de compreender o contexto e as necessidades dos jovens leitores que fizeram parte da criação do produto e sua relação com a leitura; 2) geração de ideias e prototipagem, que consistiu na criação do livro ilustrado com a participação de crianças, criação do protótipo, feedback e alterações; 3) avaliação final, que consistiu na avaliação final do livro criado com crianças de um diferente contexto e a criação de um diferencial semântico com a finalidade de sintetizar a percepção das crianças em relação ao livro. A abordagem metodológica utilizada possibilitou a participação de professores da educação infantil e crianças durante as três etapas deste trabalho, sendo as duas primeiras realizadas com a participação de professores e alunos do primeiro ano do Núcleo de Educação da Infância da UFRN (NEI) e a terceira etapa com alunos do terceiro ano da Escola Estadual Professora Calpúrnia Caldas Amorim, no município de Jardim do Seridó.
