Resumo:This work consists of the design of an children’s picture book applying a Participatory Design aproach in order to stimulate the child’s presence in a creative project in addition to engaging creative content creation and literary by children, influencing the practice of reading and learning. This project presents the theory addressing topics as a beginner reader, children’s literature, children’s picture book and participatory design, and still has the description of the methods and techniques applied in this work, divided into three stages: 1) data collection and analysis, with the purpose of understanding the context and the needs of young readers who were part of the creation of the product and its relationship with reading; 2) idea generation and prototyping, which consisted of the creation of the picture book with the participation of children, creation of the prototype, feedback and changes; 3) final evaluation, which consisted of the final evaluation of the book created with children from a different context and the creation of a semantic differential in order to synthesize children’s perception of the book. The methodological approach used allowed the participation of teachers of children’s education and children during the three stages of this work, the first two were held with the participation of teachers and students of the first year of the Núcleo de Educação da Infância da UFRN (NEI) and the third stage with students of the third year of Escola Estadual Professora Calpúrnia Caldas Amorim, from the city of Jardim do Seridó. The presence of teachers and mainly of children in this project, allowed to understand, from a perspective beyond the bibliographical research carried out, the rou- tine, context and needs of the participating children the creation of a book that received a positive reception from both the NEI and Calpúrnia School.
