Resumo: | Objective
This study aims to analyze the structure of the zooplankton community (rotifers and cladocerans) in reservoirs in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, and which environmental variables (abiotic and phytoplankton) are important for these organisms.
Methods
The study took place in 11 water reservoirs in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The analyzed variables were: pH, water transparency, depth, total and dissolved nitrogen, total and dissolved phosphorus, total and dissolved carbon and the density of the major phytoplankton groups.
Results
The structures of the zooplankton communities showed similarity, except for Boqueirão de Touros and Tabatinga, whose showed the highest densities of the Cyanobacteria family. The variables that showed relationship with the zooplankton were: pH, depth, nitrogen and dissolved phosphorus and the families Chryptophyceae, Zygnematophyceae, Dynophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Euglenophyceae and Bacillariophyceae
Conclusion
The results obtained show that zooplankton can be influenced by phytoplankton density. |
