Resumo: | This work intends to report the experience of implementing the group entitled "Mental
Health and Work" carried out with the workers of the Basic Family Health Unit
(BFHU), located in the João XXIII district, from the city of Caico-RN. Eleven meetings
were held between April and August 2020, conducted by professionals who are
members of the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Primary Care at the Federal
University of Rio Grande do Norte. The group generated a space for welcoming,
dialogue and reflection, focusing on the relationship between mental health and work,
especially focused on professional performance in the pandemic context. In addition to
the conversation circles, group dynamics, game days, film sessions, stretching, among
other activities, were carried out in order to identify the needs of professionals and
intervene in the necessary themes. The group's actions made it possible to confirm the
influence of the pandemic on the mental health of BFHU workers. The main factors
cited as a cause of suffering associated with work in the pandemic were: fear of
contracting the virus and transmitting it to family members; increase in the number of
severe cases and deaths; lack of national structure to provide assistance to serious cases;
shortage of personal protective equipment; lack of treatment/cure for the disease; impact
of isolation on social life; denialist behaviors towards the disease; and the disadvantages
of information overload, including the spread of so-called "fake news". Given the
participants' reports, the actions generated positive results, promoting the strengthening
of bonds, the re-signification of their experiences and the collective construction of
alternatives for coping. It was found that the activities developed were useful to promote
health and quality of life at work, enabling the identification of potentially sickening
factors and coping strategies, as well as strengthening the bond of the multidisciplinary
residency with the team of the Basic Family Health Unit. It is essential to make feasible
the execution of actions aimed at the mental health of Primary Care workers, preferably
planned with elements to guarantee the longitudinality and sustainability of the proposal. |
