Seedling production is commonly carried out in polypropylene tubes, raw In addition to being derived from nonmaterial from petroleum. renewable natural resources, they have a long life cycle and cause a relevant environmental impact. Forest and agroto this use, is renewable, easytoobtai industrial waste, which also applies n and biodegradable materials. Knowing this, this study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using cashew residues associated with beeswax for the manufacture of biodegradable tubes. The containers were manufactured with different proportions of beeswax an d residue from the processing of cashew nuts (chestnut peel after roasting). The raw materials and tubes were evaluated according to ABNT, ASTM and TAPPI standards. The physical and mechanical properties of the composites used for tube production were eval uated. The biodegradable tubes were used for planting Sabiá seedlings ( caesalpiniifolia Mimosa Benth.), and evaluated for the development and quality of seedlings produced. The raw materials chosen proved to be suitable for the manufacture of the tubes. Beeswax presented a melting temperature at 60°C. For the bark of cashew nuts, a chemical composition rich in NPK was observed, which may be favorable to the initial development of seedlings. The biodegradable tubes presented quality indicators of seedlings similar to conventional ones, however, with low mechanical resistance. It is concluded that it is possible to develop biodegradable tubes through the suggested raw materials. The material, in a nursery, was resistant to sun exposure, ambient temperature c onditions and daily watering, without the deformation of its structure, offering adequate conditions for the production of seedlings, similar to polypropylene tubes. |

The material, in a nursery, was resistant to sun exposure, ambient temperature c onditions and daily watering, without the deformation of its structure, offering adequate conditions for the production of seedlings, similar to polypropylene tubes.
