description The work that has as its axis of analysis, Social Work and Indigenous Peoples, emerged from the identification of the emergence of the debate on the Rights of the Native Population of Brazil, in particular, the performance and essential role of Social Work in Social Assistance Policy. Its general objective is to problematize the actions that the Social Service develops in favor of the consolidation of the fundamental rights of Indigenous Peoples in the Social Assistance Policy and in the recognition and strengthening of the diversity of ethnicities and cultures. The methodology of the work was based on the survey and literature review, from which we sought to briefly address the history of the Brazilian indigenous population since the European invasion, through the post-colonial, dictatorial, constitutional and post-constitutional period, reaching the present day, portraying the Covid-19 pandemic (which started in 2020 in Brazil). We also deal with the Assistance Policy in Brazil, actions of the Federal Council of Social Service, of the State Councils, and finally, how Social Service activities are developed in CRAS and CREAS, emphasizing activities of popular mobilization, social control and cultural and identity. In this sense, we also carried out data collection in order to know the actions developed in favor of indigenous people, in the portals of CFESS and regional CRESS in the Northeast region. In view of the results obtained with the study, we can say that there is still a long way to go on the debate of the original population in the profession, for that the strengthening of autonomy and an action focused on decoloniality is essential.

O trabalho que tem como eixo de análise, Serviço Social e os Povos Indígenas, surgiu pela identificação da emergência do debate sobre os Direitos da População Originária do Brasil, em especial, a atuação e o papel essencial do Serviço Social na Política de Assistência Social. Tem como objetivo geral problematizar as açõesque o Serviço Social desenvolve em prol da consolidação dos direitos fundamentais dos Povos Indígenas na Política de Assistência Social e no reconhecimento e fortalecimento na diversidade de etnias e culturas. Ametodologia do trabalho alicerçou-se no levantamento e revisão de literatura, a partir da qual buscamos abordar brevemente a história da população indígena brasileira desde a invasão Europeia, passando pelo período pós-colonial, ditatorial, constitucional e pós-constitucional, chegando até os dias atuais, retratando a pandemia do Covid-19 (que iniciou em 2020 no Brasil). Também tratamos sobre a Política de Assistência no Brasil, ações do Conselho Federal de Serviço Social, dos Conselhos Estaduais, e por fim, como são desenvolvidas as atividades do Serviço Social nos CRAS e CREAS enfatizando atividades de mobilização popular, controle social e valorização cultural e identitária. Nesse sentido, realizamos ainda levantamento de dados com o intuito de conhecer as ações desenvolvidas em prol das pessoas indígenas, nos portais do CFESS e dos CRESS regionais da região Nordeste.
