In 2019 and 2020, Brazilian states invested R$ 44,493,159.82 in dam safety and recovery actions throughout Brazil, with the northeast region responsible for 92% of investments, totaling R$ 40,779,986, 98. Using data from the National Information System on Dam Safety (SNISB), this article presents the analysis of data for dams located in Northeast Brazil and in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, focusing on the Risk Category (CRI) , Potential Damage Associated (DPA), Global Hazard Level (NPGB) and Dam Safety Plan (PSB). The analyzes indicated that, in 2021, a third of the dams in the Northeast and 45% of the dams in the RN are not categorized in relation to CRI and DPA. Among the dams categorized in terms of CRI and DPA, 50% and 60% of the dams in the Northeast are at maximum level, respectively. In RN, 79% and 70% are at the maximum level, respectively. The NPGB underreporting, despite showing a reduction in recent years, still reaches 84% for the Northeast and 98% for the RN. Among those who notified the NPGB in the Northeast region, one third reported being in a state of alert or emergency. Regarding the PSB, despite being a mandatory and provided for by law for dams included in the National Dam Safety Policy (PNSB), only 12% in the Northeast and 2% in the RN reported having the document. It is concluded that the scenario regarding the safety of dams registered with the SNISB, both in the Northeast region and in the state of Rio Grande do Norte is unfavorable, with underreporting of important indicators and disobedience of a mandatory item required by law.

Garantir a condição de segurança das barragens é fundamental para todos os envolvidos, devendo ser adotadas medidas de prevenção e de controle dessa condição. Nos anos de 2019 e 2020 os estados brasileiros investiram R$ 44.493.159,82 nas ações de segurança e recuperação de barragens em todo o Brasil, sendo os estados da região nordeste responsáveis por 92% dos investimentos, totalizando R$ 40.779.986,98. Utilizando os dados do Sistema Nacional de Informações sobre Segurança de Barragens (SNISB), esse artigo apresenta a análise dos dados cadastrados, para as barragens localizadas no Nordeste Brasileiro e no estado do Rio Grande do Norte, com foco na Categoria de Risco (CRI), Dano Potencial Associado (DPA), Nível de Perigo Global (NPGB) e Plano de Segurança da Barragem (PSB). As análises indicaram que, em 2021, não estão categorizadas em relação à CRI e ao DPA um terço das barragens no Nordeste e 45% das barragens do RN. Entre as barragens categorizadas em relação à CRI e ao DPA, estão em nível máximo respectivamente 52% e 60% das barragens do Nordeste. No RN, estão em nível máximo respectivamente 65% e 70%. A subnotificação do NPGB, apesar de apresentar redução nos últimos anos, ainda alcança 84% para o Nordeste e 98% para o RN. Entre as que notificaram o NPGB na região Nordeste, um terço informou estar em estado de alerta ou emergência. Em relação ao PSB, apesar de ser item obrigatório previsto em lei para as barragens inclusas na Política Nacional de Segurança de Barragens (PNSB), informaram possuir o documento apenas 12% no Nordeste e 2% no RN.
