| Resumo: | Contemporary society, linked to the globalization process, allowed the intensification of the precariousness of work relations and the worsening of the Social Question. This scenario presents us with a topic that has been the subject of some public and social policy discussions, the homeless population. The homeless situation involves numerous needs for this population, which in addition to living without housing, suffers from the absence of various social rights, experiencing constant social neglect, and has their rights violated daily. It is from this reflection that the present work sought to analyze the performance of the Social Service with this population in the health area. The study sought to investigate the professional daily life of the Social Service in health, with the space cut out for the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital in Natal/RN, focusing on the work of social workers facing the demands involving the adult population in a street situation. For data collection, field and bibliographic research was carried out, in addition to a semi-structured interview with some Social Service professionals from the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital. The homeless population phenomenon is a field of action of the Social Service that has been growing in Brazilian society, due to the advance of social inequalities. Therefore, it is necessary to study and research in this area. This work focused on this performance in health, in view of the growth of demands by this population in hospitals, as a result of the precariousness in today's society, together with the offensive social health policies. |
