description This graduation conclusion work aimed to apprehend and analyze the conception of individuality from the thinking of Newton Duarte (2013) and Marilda Iamamoto (2001). Continuing the work plan initiated in scientific initiation, we defined as an object of study the apprehension of the concept of individuality in a historical-critical perspective and of totality. The main methodological procedure adopted as a resource for the elaboration of this study was the bibliographic research, from the works "A Individualidade para si: contribuições a uma teoria histórico-crítica da formação do indivíduo" by Duarte (2013) and " Trabalho e Indivíduo social” by Iamamoto (2001) and, in a complementary way, theoretical contributions in the marxist universe. We sought to identify and analyze the theoretical-political foundations that underpin the understanding of individuality in the analyzed works. This study is based on a perspective of totality in the understanding of social life and the study object. Thus, the main results achieved were: the characterization of the bibliographic profile and academic trajectory of the authors, placing them in their historical time and elucidating their theoretical and political contributions; understanding that the marxian and marxist foundations enable the apprehension of human individuality and its relationship with labor and the dynamics of capitalist society and the process of formation and development of social subjects in their historicity and contradictions. The research results allow, therefore, to affirm the centrality of the perspective of totality for the analysis of social life, highlighting the contradictions of capitalist sociability and its tendency to impose limits on the development of free individuality, in the face of alienation, determined by the exploitation of the workforce and the violation of human diversity.

Esse trabalho de conclusão de curso objetivou apreender e analisar a concepção de individualidade a partir do pensamento de Newton Duarte (2013) e Marilda Iamamoto (2001). Dando continuidade ao plano de trabalho iniciado na iniciação científica, definimos como objeto de estudo a apreensão da concepção de individualidade em uma perspectiva histórico-crítica e de totalidade. O principal procedimento metodológico adotado como recurso para a elaboração deste trabalho foi a pesquisa bibliográfica, a partir das obras “A Individualidade para si: contribuições a uma teoria histórico-crítica da formação do indivíduo” de Duarte (2013) e “Trabalho e Indivíduo social” de Iamamoto (2001) e, de forma complementar, contribuições teóricas no universo marxista. Buscou-se identificar e analisar os fundamentos teórico-políticos que alicerçam o entendimento da individualidade nas obras analisadas. Esse estudo se fundamenta em uma perspectiva de totalidade no entendimento da vida social e do objeto de estudo. Assim, os principais resultados alcançados foram: a caracterização do perfil bibliográfico e da trajetória acadêmica dos autores, situando-os em seu tempo histórico e elucidando suas contribuições teóricas e políticas; entendimento de que os fundamentos marxianos e marxistas possibilitam a apreensão da individualidade humana e sua relação com o trabalho e a dinâmica da sociedade capitalista e o processo da formação e desenvolvimento dos sujeitos sociais em sua historicidade e contradições.
