description Gingival recession (GR) is defined as the apical displacement of the gingival margin caused by different conditions/pathologies associated with clinical attachment loss. The objective of this work is to expose the advantages of the use of magnification in periodontal plastic surgery and presents a clinical case to demonstrate such advantages. The methodology of the work was the report of a clinical case in which a treatment of gingival recession of the Cairo RT1 type was performed in a patient who had a fixed prosthesis in element 11, site of said recession. Treatment was performed with periodontal plastic surgery under magnification. After a 23-month follow-up, complete root coverage and very satisfactory esthetics were observed. In the discussion, it was seen that more and more studies clearly demonstrate better results in the treatment of gingival recessions with the use of microsurgical techniques when compared with flap surgeries performed macrosurgically, with improved average root coverage, less surgical trauma, less postoperative inflammatory status. -operative and faster healing. The surgical technique used in microsurgery, the tunneling technique, is more conservative, has fewer incisions, faster healing and better aesthetic results. It is concluded that the surgical techniques for treating gingival recessions have evolved in order to promote better results that provide the patient with health, comfort and adequate aesthetics and the operating microscope has contributed, and a lot, to this evolution. Thus, the operating microscope, combined with micro-instruments, also allows for a more delicate tissue treatment, less postoperative inflammation and faster healing.

2022-02-22T11:36:45Z 2022-02-22T11:36:45Z 2022-02-02 bachelorThesis CHAVES, Francisco Glayson Sombra.
