The etiology is poorly understood, although new evidence of neurological, emotional and hormonal changes is related to BMS. The aim of this study was to investigate which treatment has the greatest effect on Burning Mouth Syndrome. The literature search was carried out from 2009 to 2019, with the following terms: “Burning mouth syndrome”; “Burning mouth” (burning mouth); “Treatments” (treatments). Cross-sectional, case-control and cohort studies carried out in humans were used as search criteria. A total of 187 articles were found, of which 23 were selected at the end of the process. After analyzing the works, it is observed that the treatments of laser therapies are still the ones with the highest results, followed by non-pharmacological treatments, acupuncture and drug treatments. A síndrome da ardência bucal (SAB) é definida como uma sensação de queimação principalmente na língua, palato e ou gengiva ou em outra região da mucosa oral, na ausência de lesão oral específica. Caracteriza-se por uma contínua, espontânea, e intensa sensação de queimação. A etiologia é pouco compreendida, embora novas evidências neurológicas, emocionais e alterações hormonais estejam relacionadas com a SAB. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar qual tratamento produz maior efeito na Síndrome da ardência bucal. A busca na literatura foi realizada no período de 2009 a 2019, com os seguintes termos: “Burning mouth syndrome” (Síndrome da ardência bucal); “Burning mouth” (ardência bucal); “Treatments” (tratamentos). Utilizou-se como critérios de busca, estudos realizados em humanos do tipo transversal, caso-controle e coorte. Foram encontrados 187 artigos, dos quais 23 foram selecionados ao final do processo.
