Resumo:The Brazilian Navy shows concern for the environment, demanding that its Organizations develop and comply with their Environmental Management Systems to reduce environmental impacts and show society their environmental responsibility. The hospital sector is responsible for generating significant environmental impacts, due to its high consumption of water and energy, and the significant generation of infectious waste. Given the above, the objective of this work was to evaluate the Environmental Management System of the Naval Hospital in Natal, identifying whether its actions and projects are in accordance with current regulations and with the objectives of the Global Agenda for Green and Healthy Hospitals. , in addition to suggesting improvements in the Environmental Management System (EMS). The work was developed in three stages: I) Evaluation of the documental part of the EMS; II) On-site assessment; and III) Proposal for improvements in the SGA and in the Hospital's facilities. As a result, it was found that the Hospital's SGA meets the standards and resolutions evaluated and has environmental practices that are in accordance with the internal and external standards of the Brazilian Navy. Despite this, it was possible to notice the need for the Organization to invest efforts to improve the water objective, since there is no measurement of its consumption, alternative sources are not used, such as the reuse of rainwater, and most sanitary appliances do not have a saving device of water.
