Resumo:The great reportage is characterized by allowing a more in-depth research on a subject, which leads us to use it as a support to investigate the “brega” music from Potiguar and try to find out why, although our state has several artists representing the genre “ brega”, this type of music has never deserved the attention of the public authorities and has not yet been recognized as one of the genuinely potiguar artistic expressions. This investigation makes it possible to verify whether it would be possible to endow our state with its own musical identity, including a very particular definition for the music produced here: MPB – Música Potiguar Brega. The production of a journalistic text can contribute to the dissemination of this form of regional cultural expression and expand public information on the subject, which is still little explored.
