Resumo: | According to IBGE data, the persistence of racial inequalities in Brazil has consequences
for the population’s education. Statistics about school evasion, literacy and violence in
schools demonstrate inequality between people who are declared black or brown in
relation to people who declare themselves white. The lack of appreciation and
dissemination of references in relation to black personalities is pointed out by the National
Curriculum Guidelines for the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations and for the Teaching
of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture as one of the obstacles to changing
this scenario. Therefore, I propose the use of biographies of black men and black women
who fought for the freedom and rights of black population in Brazil, aiming to build a
fairer and more egalitarian society. The biographies, in addition to providing students
with positive references for the construction of a black identity, will allow students to get
hold of a variety of concrete experiences, which sometimes escape from the hegemonic
ideas about the black population. For the product, I will present a scrapbook, a memory
book composed of clippings and images that refer to the ideas and experiences of these
black personalities, I will enable students to contact with various types of written and
image sources. With this, I aim to stimulate the construction of knowledge through the
methodology of historical research, so that the traces support the elaboration of
hypotheses and taking positions committed to the education’ goals for ethnic-racial relations. |
