Resumo:This study aimed to analyze the educational practices of teachers Joaquim Coutinho, Júlia Medeiros, Dolores Diniz and Leonor Cavalcanti in Caicó/RN city, between the 1920s and 1940s. During this period, these teachers used the local press to record and disseminate practices held daily in the classrooms of Senador Guerra Group School Group0, the institution where they taught together. This research was based on the assumptions of Chartier (1990), Certeau (2002), Julia (1995) and Sirinelli (2003), among others. In documents such as newspaper articles, Governmental Messages, Laws and Decrees and the Internal Regulations of School Groups of Rio Grande do Norte (1925), located in the Historical and Geographical Institute of Rio Grande do Norte, as well as the Class Diary of the Chair Mixed Children of the Senador Guerra School Group (1925), the Book of School Events of the Senador Guerra School Group (1937-1949) and copies of the newspaper O Ideal da Juventude (1931), located in the collection of this School Group (currently Escola Estadual with the same denomination). Documents such as the remaining copies of Jornal das Moças (1926), existing in the collection of the Historical Documentation Laboratory of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (LABORDOC) located at the Seridó Higher Education Center – CERES/UFRN – Campus de Caicó and copies of the newspaper A Escola, in the personal collection of teacher Dolores Diniz were used too. Likewise, we base this study on documents such as: photographic records, manuscripts and printed matter provided by family members and friends of these teachers. This research evidenced the contribution of the studied teachers to education in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, since their practices were anchored in the provisions of Law No. 405, of November 29, 1916, also known as the Organic Law of Education, which, among other deliberations, sought to modernize public instruction, guiding the creation of new schools, as well as the maintenance and inspection of primary education. From this study, it appears that, by publishing hemerographic texts that discussed their educational practices, these teachers collaborated to the pedagogical press in the Rio Grande do Norte and, more specifically, in the Seridó region.
