It is important to highlight that the forms of organization, mobilization and political action of youngsters have guided a considerable amount of research studies about the topic. It is also noteworthy that the new contemporary social movements, especially led by youngsters, from 2013 onwards, take on a certain social and political role in the country's manifestations, marches and street protests. Hence, the general objective of this research was to analyze the processes of organization, formation and striving of the youths that make up the social movement Levante Popular da Juventude, in the state of Pernambuco. The specific objectives were: a) to identify the sociability relationships, the collective experiences and the demands of the youths of Levante Popular da Juventude; b) understand how the engagement and participation processes of the young individuals that compound the movement take place; c) carry out a mapping of the actions and repertoires of collective action on the three fronts of the movement. As for the methodological procedures, initially, a literature review was carried out on the theme of youth participation in contemporary social movements. As for a second moment, a work of participant observation, in which the researcher, during a period of two years, followed the routine and the schedule of the social movement, being present on training courses, camps, collective processes of organization, actions, acts and activities. In the last phase of the research, interviews were conducted with the young people who make up the group Levante Popular da Juventude Pernambuco. After carrying out the study, the thesis defended is that Levante Popular da Juventude is positioned as a space that allows the redefinition of forms of engagement and participation of youth in contemporaneity. The symbolic field formed through mystique, identities, feelings of belonging, affection and collectivity, typical of this social movement, builds an identity of resistance that sets itself as a reference within the processes of organization, formation and striving of the social movement.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES A presente tese foi elaborada a partir de investigações teóricas e metodológicas sobre a temática da participação política das juventudes na contemporaneidade. É importante destacar que as formas de organização, mobilização e atuação política das juventudes têm orientado uma considerável quantidade de estudos sobre o tema. Destaca-se também que os novos movimentos sociais contemporâneos, sobretudo os juvenis, a partir de 2013, assumem um certo protagonismo social e político nas manifestações, passeatas e protestos de rua do país. Diante disso, a pesquisa teve como objetivo geral analisar os processos de organização, formação e luta das juventudes que compõem o movimento social Levante Popular da Juventude, no estado de Pernambuco. Os objetivos específicos foram: a) identificar as relações de sociabilidade, as vivências coletivas e as demandas das juventudes do Levante Popular da Juventude; b) compreender como se dão os processos de engajamento e participação dos sujeitos jovens que compõem o movimento; c) realizar um mapeamento das ações e repertórios de ação coletiva nas três frentes do movimento. Quanto aos procedimentos metodológicos, inicialmente, foi realizada uma revisão da literatura sobre a temática da participação das juventudes nos movimentos sociais contemporâneos. Em um segundo momento, fez-se um trabalho de observação participante, no qual o pesquisador, durante o período de dois anos, acompanhou a rotina e a agenda do movimento social, fazendo-se presente nos cursos de formação, acampamentos, processos de organização coletiva, ações, atos e atividades. Na última fase da pesquisa, foram realizadas entrevistas com os jovens que compõem o Levante Popular da Juventude Pernambuco. Após a realização do estudo, defende-se a tese de que o Levante Popular da Juventude se posiciona como um espaço que possibilita o ressignificar de formas de engajamento e participação das juventudes na contemporaneidade.
