Resumo:The research encompasses reflections and perspectives for working with decolonial heritage education in history teaching. The approach was based on the Free Fair of São Bento, a striking sociocultural element in the daily lives of high school students at the Edson Queiroz State School of Professional Education, in the municipality of Cascavel, Ceará. Proposing to discuss local history through concepts related to memory, identity and heritage, pedagogical strategies in a dialogic and participatory dimension were mobilized in dialogue with the scope of basic education and history didactics. Aspects of the trajectory of recent academic production that discuss heritage education, the trajectory of theoretical approaches and a counterpoint look affirming other pedagogical possibilities through a decolonial bias are listed. As an agenda that produces the historical knowledge that emanates from the lives of people and their surroundings, the didactic proposal of the participatory inventories of the Free Fair of São Bento is presented, which is the motto for significant historical learning based on the dialogicity of knowledge. This strategy gives visibility to other subjects, to other identities and cultures different from those conventionally addressed in history class.
