Resumo:One main challenge of traffic engineering is to minimize conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles in urban centers. To solve these problems, they take pedestrians off the road, placing walkways and decreasing pedestrian crossings. As a result, pedestrians occupy the second place in the ranking of victims by traffic accident in Brazil. The main purpose of this monography is to propose interventions based on traffic engineering methodologies for pedestrian crossings inspired by the perspective developed in the "Nova Paulista" project, that is in Technical Bulletin No. 48 CET/SP, in a 2.1 km stretch of Av. Eng. Roberto Freire, located in an area of economic and tourist pole of Natal / RN. The main proposals if of six pedestrian crossings with traffic lights on the segment. The proposed alternative eliminates conflicts that existed between vehicles and pedestrians, making local mobility effective and safe.
