Resumo:In the year 2020, humanity was faced with an unprecedented pandemic, amid so many uncertainties, to follow the protocols of health organizations, social isolation was instituted around the world, so several companies found themselves in need of adopting a new working arrangement. Amidst the pandemic, there was a widespread use of telecommuting for various activities. Thus, despite the telework arrangement not being recent, most organizations had never gone through such a situation, making it an even greater challenge for managers. Thus, the research took place in a regional office of the Support Service for Micro and Small Businesses (SEBRAE), aiming to understand the strategic management practices used in the COVID-19 pandemic scenario, investigating the main impacts and challenges, having as a purpose to analyze the actions taken to adapt to the pandemic scenario. The research is characterized as a qualitative and descriptive approach, having in its data collection the semi-structured interview method in which the following results were obtained: the identification of the main challenges for managers, such as the change in organizational culture, the reduction of planning space and the restructuring of processes. The research also addresses the positive impacts that the pandemic caused, such as: the acceleration of processes and their adaptation to the digital environment. Furthermore, it is possible to note that SEBRAE's strategic management is based on goals, which contributed to the organization's commitment during the home office period. During the research, limitations were found for its implementation due to the lack of research with the perspective of managers in remote work, a key aspect in this research. It is suggested for future research to deepen the theme of telework in organizations from the perspective of managers. The delimitation of this research was due to the lack of research related to telework from the perspective of strategic people management.
