Resumo:Graphene, discovered in the 90s, has become one of the main objects of study today and thousands of researches on this material have been developed in institutions around the world. This work was carried out in order to apply a clean and high yield route for the synthesis of graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) for incorporation into epoxy matrix. The syntheses were based on methods widely known by the scientific community, such as the Tour method and the low-temperature thermal reduction of GO. These methods were chosen due to the high benefit-cost ratio of the chemical exfoliation, fastness and practicality of the thermal reduction method, and because they do not need complex equipments. The incorporation of rGO in the epoxy matrix was performed using different solvents, aiming to evaluate the dispersion of the material. This evaluation can help several industrie sectors on the incorporation of rGO in epoxy matrix for different commercial applications. Results from Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses showed that both GO and rGO were successfully obtained. SEM and electrical conductivity analyses were performed and showed, respectively, the dispersion of rGO in the epoxy matrix and electrical characteristics of the material.
