description The objective of this work was to study the Mesoscale Convective Complexes (MCC) that hit the La Plata Basin region in the period from 1983 to 2008 with the use of ISCCP-Tracking data. Initially, 13 MCC cases from the literature were used. From these, satellite images were generated, as well as meteorological fields with ERA 5 reanalysis data using the image composition technique. The dynamic characteristics of the atmosphere associated with these cases were analyzed (ERA 5 data), as well as their physical and morphological characteristics (data from the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project - ISCCP). This step of the work was of utmost importance to verify if the MCCs already identified and discussed in the literature could be identified in an automatic Convective Systems Tracking database, the ISCCP. Subsequently, a study area was defined over the La Plata Basin and MCCs were identified using the Maddox (1980) criteria of size, temperature, duration and eccentricity. As results, 82 cases of MCCs were identified with ISCCP-Tracking data between the years 1983 and 2008. In general, the MCCs in the La Plata Basin have an average size of 400,500 km², average duration of 6 hours, initial stages develop during the night and early morning, maturation occurs at dawn when JBN are more intense, and dissipate in the early morning and afternoon hours. The results are in accordance with the literature, however, an evaluation with a long series (26 years) of CCM over the La Plata Basin had never been done before, which shows the innovative character of this work.

The results are in accordance with the literature, however, an evaluation with a long series (26 years) of CCM over the La Plata Basin had never been done before, which shows the innovative character of this work.
