Resumo: | This thesis deals with the problems of urban violence in tourist destinations, considering fear
as an emotion capable of influencing the decision-making of the tourist. As a central objective,
one has to understand the perception of the fear of urban violence on the part of Natal tourists,
in Rio Grande do Norte, tied to the socio-spatial dynamics of destiny. The study has a qualiquantitative approach, is characterized as a descriptive-exploratory and documentary research
and, as for its organization and data analysis, the content analysis technique and excel software
were used to perform a simple and descriptive statistics. They were analyzed 4.184 police
reports registered at the Police Station Specialized in Tourist Service considering the period
from January 1, 2009 to April 10, 2019, 300 online questionnaires were applied with tourists
who visited the Natal destination with research opened on July 1, 2020 and closed on 15 January
2021, four online questionnaires were answered by representatives of the state and municipal
departments of Natal tourism by a police officer, and the General Coordinator of the
Observatory of Violence of/RN, between July 1st and thirty-one july 2020. It was verified, from
the analysis of the official records, that the information collected cannot reveal the real scenario
of the problems of urban violence that affect tourists, because negligence was identified in
filling out the documents, in addition to the lack of standardization in the categorization of the
types of crimes recorded, which leaves the data fragile for an analysis and use in order to
propose strategies to cope with acts of violence. Tourists participating in the research pointed
out that the feeling of fear appears when they walk through the streets/avenues of Natal,
especially at night and that, when they were victims of some type of violence in that destination,
the acts took place in squares, public streets or beaches. Finally, it was found that there is still
no priority to develop and propose actions aimed at minimizing acts of urban violence against
tourists, as well as public managers of tourism do not see it as their responsibility issues
involving tourist safety. |
