Resumo: | Objective: To assess the perception of professionals from the multidisciplinary team of the
Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Regional do Seridó Telecila Freitas Fontes about palliative
care in the unit and contribute to the qualification of health care in ICU care and quality of life
for patients and their relatives. Methods: This was an exploratory cross-sectional study. A
questionnaire was applied to characterize the sample and assess the perception of palliative
care in the ICU of HRS Telecila Freitas Fontes. The answers to the questions were analyzed
based on the proposal of the Discourse of the Collective Subject, with dual representation.
Results: 73 answers were obtained, which listed sociodemographic aspects related to the
sample components, and aspects about knowledge in palliative care. There is unanimity
around the perception of professionals in relation to the relevance of palliation, however, there
are important gaps within the knowledge necessary for its safe implementation. There is
agreement on the need to implement protocols and training directed at the topic. Conclusions:
Given the perceived need for training in the service regarding palliative care, this study is able
to analyze the perception of the multidisciplinary ICU team in relation to this issue, building a
powerful diagnosis capable of impacting important health interventions. |
