Despite this recommendation, the incidence of cesarean section is increasing in several countries, and is not different in Brazil. In the context of the Maternity Leide Morais (Natal / RN), it was observed that although this service has prepartum, delivery and postpartum suites, favorable environments to stimulate normal delivery, delivery at the institution still represents a high index cesarean section. Thus, taking into account what is recommended by the World Health Organization and based on the observations made in the service, the aim was to develop the present intervention, focusing on the importance of the need for humanization in childbirth and the use of methods nonpharmacological pain relief for the parturient. The aim of the intervention is to implement the use of pelvic balance, which is considered one of the non-pharmacological methods for pain relief for assisted parturients during labor. For implementation in the service, an extension course was held in three moments, in order to sensitize managers and train the nursing team, addressing the importance of the method, in addition to the elaboration of the standard operating protocol for pelvic balance use and proposal for restoration of equipment that is in poor condition in that service. After the training, there was a change of the team on the importance of the horse to the laboring woman in labor, as well as being more encouraged to offer this non-pharmacological method of pain relief. Although the restoration of the horses has not been possible due to the lack of institutional financial resources for maintenance, even considering that management is sensitive to the improvement of the humanized assistance to women, it is believed that the transformation of this reality in the medium term given the movements with managerial and administrative implications.

Ministério da Saúde A Organização Mundial da Saúde salienta que o parto deve ser visto como um evento natural, e não necessita de controle, mas sim de cuidados. Apesar desta recomendação, a incidência de cesariana está aumentando em diversos países, não sendo diferente no Brasil. No contexto da Maternidade Leide Morais (Natal/RN), observou-se que apesar desse serviço possuir suítes pré-parto, parto e pós-parto, ambientes propícios para estímulo ao parto normal, a assistência ao parto na instituição ainda representa um alto índice de cesarianas. Assim, levando em consideração o que é preconizado pela Organização Mundial de Saúde e a partir das observações feitas no serviço buscou-se desenvolver a intervenção em curso ora apresentada, com enfoque nos aspectos da importância da necessidade de humanização no parto e no uso de métodos não farmacológicos de alívio da dor para a parturiente. A intervenção têm como objetivo implementar o uso do balanço pélvico tipo “cavalinho”, considerado um dos métodos não farmacológicos para alívio da dor para as parturientes assistidas no transcurso do trabalho de parto. Para implementação no serviço, foi realizado curso de extensão em três momentos, com vistas a sensibilizar os gestores e capacitar a equipe de enfermagem, abordando a importância do método, além da elaboração do protocolo operacional padrão para uso do balanço pélvico e proposta para restauração dos equipamentos que estão em condições precárias nesse serviço. Após a capacitação observou-se uma mudança da equipe sobre a importância do cavalinho para a parturiente em trabalho de parto, bem como, mais estimulada a oferecer esse método não farmacológico de alívio da dor.
