In this sense, the purpose of this intervention was to implement first-time breastfeeding in a public maternity hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Methodological tools for this purpose were chosen for the purpose of conversation, sensitization of managers and multiprofessional team on the relevance of the initiative to help achieve what the Rede Cegonha and the Incentivo Hospital Amigo da Criança, associated with implantation of a Standard Operating Procedure that regulates the practice of first-hour breastfeeding in the unit. To date, the phase of sensitization and presentation of Standard Operational Procedure has been completed, as well as a registry of quantification and registration of newborns breastfed in the first hour. It is hoped that the Standard Operating Procedure will be submitted for review and revision for subsequent implantation in the routine of the institution, with the perspective of humanization of the care and expansion of the benefits that early breastfeeding provides the mother / child dyad.

Ministério da Saúde O contato pele a pele e o aleitamento na primeira hora de vida são mundialmente reconhecidos como estratégias que tanto ajudam a prolongar a amamentação como também reduzir os índices de morbidade e mortalidade materno-infantil. Outrossim, as boas práticas citadas fornecem ganhos consideráveis a mulher ao ajudar na involução uterina e prevenir doenças como câncer de mama e ovário, além de, ao mesmo tempo, proporcionar oferta de nutrientes necessários ao desenvolvimento neonatal. Nesse sentido, objetivou-se com a intervenção em questão implementar o aleitamento materno na primeira hora de vida numa maternidade pública no estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Escolheu-se como instrumentos metodológicos para esse fim rodas de conversa, sensibilizações de gestores e equipe multiprofissional sobre a relevância da iniciativa para ajudar a concretizar o que preconiza a Rede Cegonha e a Iniciativa Hospital amigo da Criança associado a implantação de um Procedimento Operacional Padrão que normatiza a prática de aleitamento de primeira hora na unidade. Como resultados já alcançados até o momento salienta-se a conclusão da fase de sensibilização e construção/apresentação do Procedimento Operacional Padrão, implementação de uma ficha de quantificação/registro de recém-nascidos amamentados na primeira hora no prontuário.
