Resumo:This study aims to know how health professionals and institutions perceive obstetric violence, taking into consideration how the term is defined in medical and health sciences literature, understanding its historical changes and the main strategies used to prevent and eliminate it. practice. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review conducted in the main databases Lilacs, Medline / Pubmed and Scopus. Full and free articles were selected related to the theme in question classified as original articles and bibliographic reviews and excluded editorials. and dissertations. Final sample consisted of 18 articles, which were grouped into three categories. Results: Most articles were published in the last two years, being 66.6% published in Portuguese and 50% from quantitative approach studies with moderate recommendation. The term obstetric violence, despite being widely discussed by the groups of humanization of childbirth, still needs conceptualization and typification in legal documents, as most professionals recognize that some practices hurt female autonomy, but justify its use as a way to make I leave a “safe” event. Women's empowerment and investment in maternal physical structure plus training are important elements in preventing and eliminating obstetric violence. Conclusion: In the end, we realized the need for strong scientific evidence on obstetric violence and its variations and the need for sensitization of professionals and institutions in the search for positive delivery care.
