Resumo:Objective: To describe and compare the socioeconomic, demographic and obstetric profile of pregnant women assisted in a maternity hospital in Seridó Potiguar. Methods: Epidemiological, retrospective study with a quantitative and cross-sectional approach, carried out in a maternity hospital in Seridó Potiguar. By means of an instrument, 1,063 records were collected, related to the period from January to December 2019. Results: As for the socioeconomic and demographic profile, young women (under the age of 30) prevailed, without employment, living with their partners, white and having completed high school. As for the obstetric profile, they were primiparous, followed up during prenatal care, dissipation over six consultations, full term pregnancy, most of them, the mode of delivery was cesarean. Conclusions: The parturients attended in this study were mostly young, primiparous and had a context of social vulnerability. Caesarean section has more postpartum complications than normal delivery and there is a statistical difference between the mode of delivery and the Apgar score.
