Resumo:The present article aims, the study on the process of history and identity formation of community Macambira’s Quilombo Negroes - Lagoa Nova- RN, analyzing, from the reports of people who live there, the importance of the expression of a secular memory source on ownership of land and the reconstruction of a quilombo identity after the recognition process. For this, we start from the understanding of the historical formation of the community, in order to understand the conflict, the political and historical importance of memory statement. Methodologically this work develops from the construction of oral source and its theoretical assumptions discussion about memory and present history in Jacques Le Goff and Pierre Nora and analysis of identity developed by Stuart Hall and Tomaz Tadeu da Silva.
