In the archives of this institution, there are several documents that hold important information for the Public Security area and also for the members of the institution itself, which are constantly being requested by civil and military authorities and therefore need to be handled frequently to meet internal and external requests, generating a constant flow of information that requires the administration, in addition to organization, the use of resources that contribute to the conservation and facilitate the access and the handling of this data. Based on the theoretical basis we obtained, referring to articles and sites related to the subject matter that we approached, and also based on the observation we made at the research site, we noticed that there were demands to be addressed in the various sectors of the institution, which basically showed the need to adopt modern mechanisms that facilitate the practical and safe access to archives through the use of information and communication technologies, with the purpose of safeguarding and recovering the data in case of loss. Having said this, we suggest to the institution's administration that some measures be taken to improve the preservation of physical archives, and we also digitized some of these archives as a way to encourage the implementation of a digital archive to guarantee the longevity of the information media and, at the same time facilitating access to information. Neste projeto, abordamos o acesso às informações dos arquivos da 3ªCIPM com foco na modernização e no aparelhamento digital. Nos arquivos dessa instituição, existem diversos documentos que guardam informações importantes para a área da Segurança Pública e também para os membros da própria instituição que, constantemente, são requisitados por autoridades civis e militares e, por isso, precisam ser manuseados com frequência, para atender solicitações internas e externas, gerando um fluxo constante de informações que requer da administração, além de organização, o uso de recursos que contribuam com a conservação e facilitem o acesso e o manuseio desses dados. A partir do embasamento teórico que obtivemos, consultando artigos e sites relacionados à temática que abordamos, e também com base na observação que realizamos no local da pesquisa, percebemos que existiam demandas a serem sanadas nos diversos setores da instituição, as quais, basicamente, mostravam a necessidade de se adotar mecanismos modernos que facilitassem o acesso, de forma prática e segura, aos arquivos através do uso de tecnologias da informação e comunicação, com o objetivo de salvaguardar e recuperar os dados em caso de perda.
