The municipality of Parelhas /RN composes one of the five instances of regional tourism governance in the State of RN, the Seridó Tourist Center. The methodology used to carry out the inventory was the same one that is used by the Ministry of Tourism, and the methodology of this work to reach the objectives of the study consists in being a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis. In the results it is possible to understand that Parelhas / RN contemplates potential for the tourist activity advance, however, it presents a still fragile infrastructure and deficiencies in the divulgation and promotion of the destination, emphasizing the need for more assertive tourism planning and effective public policies. It was also found that the municipality has several enterprising in the area of tourism generating formal jobs, in addition to major events that are held in the city moving businesses and jobs. Therefore, the realization of the tourist inventory can contribute with a more correct and directed planning, considering the local reality as its tourist offer, where from the real information of the place, tends to improve the performance of public management in decisions in the field of tourism. Este trabalho analisa através dos resultados da inventariação turística de Parelhas/RN, suas fragilidades e potencialidades quanto ao desenvolvimento do turismo local. O município de Parelhas/RN compõe uma das cinco instâncias de governança regional do turismo do Estado do RN, o Polo Turístico Seridó. A metodologia adotada para realizar a inventariação foi a mesma que é utilizada pelo Ministério do Turismo, e a metodologia desse trabalho para poder atingir os objetivos do estudo consiste em ser de abordagem quantitativa, com análises descritivas. Nos resultados é possível perceber que o Parelhas/RN contempla potencialidades para o avanço da atividade turística, porém, apresenta uma infraestrutura ainda frágil e deficiências na divulgação e promoção do destino, ressaltando a necessidade de um planejamento turístico mais assertivo e políticas públicas efetivas. Constatou-se também que o município possui diversos empreendimentos na área do turismo gerando empregos formais, além dos grandes eventos que são realizados na cidade movimentando os negócios e postos de trabalhos.
